Je suis completement d'accord avec l'idee mais ca devrait etre un test d'evaluation mais pas un test d'admission,parceque il a l'analphabetiste qu'on peut pas ignorer.Donc on pourait dire que c'est tout à fait normal pour devenir citoyen Canadien il vous faut au moins un minimum de connaissance du pays,que sur le plan historique,politique et geographique.

I am waiting for the Landing Documents and study the basic about canada. I have also study the meterial of International Organization for Migration Material. I think it is best but the people who are living in the province must know or score 80% and remaning 20% about canada.Or According to Region,Province and Teritory Base % and exam. Thanks. It was harder then I thought. I had to write it twice to get it correct. Perhaps it should contain some questions regarding canadian customs and beliefs of equality along with canadian folk lore.

its good and impt to know about the place where you live but it would be very good if it make simpler and that there would be something questions setting on the (the new Discovery book ) like the what we used to have it in the old book so that poeple could rely on it , so, these are just my assumption . but any how it makes me very nervous, tension for like a year , very very stressfull and so on.

I think its too much uncessary or useless information that we will never need to use again and some Canadian born people know less about their own country. If they have the test most people will fail because they probably forgot.

I dont see any reason why a selected age group(s) are asked to write the test. I think once is established that you live in canada and the concern is interested to be citizen they should be granted without writing test. people hardly find time to read and the question is what happen to people who dont like to write the test? I dont think the test is a good idea.

Well, there are enough people in Canada who cannot and do not want to even learn the official language. If after three years of living in Canada (this is the minimum requirement in order to apply for citizenship) you cannot understand the questions then I believe this is very sad. Respect the country you are living in and make an effort to learn one of the official languages and some historical/cultural/legal background. The test won't seem so hard after that.

Yes, my girfriend just wrote the test. It's like very convoluted difficult to understand questions, mixed with very detiled informetion required to answer.. Only 30 minutes to answer, mandatory 10 quwsrions 100% t answer, only 5 can be wrong from the next 1o. I guess somemone at C?IC is working hard to get as many people as possible to fail. It's alot to do with IQ test is so complexed qestioned. I guess it's better to have a landed immigrants and u can tell them to shut up anytime then deal with new citizens

The Discover Canada book is very unteresting but it will be hard for many immigrants to pass the test. I believe is the one way to reduce the number of immgrants to have their rights as others, real Canadians born.Finally, make the test available on website and we will do our best to pass the test. The Discover Canada book has to be given to new immigrants on their first year of landing. I live in Canada and do know more about the things I read in Discover Canada. I appreciate people who put this book together. But you designed it harder. Thanks you

Yes it's difficult. I can't comment to CIC they do not allowe any comments.. ifu read it .. It's not fair to make this test as difficult as it is.. not all immigrabts went to school for 15 years.. if you really need them to know all this do not make the questions on the test so convoluted and difficult to understand..simple\y composed questions should be enough , don't u think. This is not an IQ test.. oe is it? I'm sure that most university students would fail this test ..IS IT WHAT YOU WANT CIC people?

I LOVE the new study guide it has a lot interesting history. In JAM. We have this famous quote You must know where you are coming from in order to now where you are going, I guess we can apply this to our lifes when we immigrate to a new country, its good to know where that country is coming from and where they are going.Are we immigrating to a new country to better ourselves and intern help that country to be better or Not.

Hey Greg, How typical.. you are obviously english speaker and well educated.. put yourself in some non english cultured reson.. asian/african e.g.. and then imagine that you have a learning disability.. yes they exist.. then try to answer 20 questions in 30 minutes.. this is not a competition people.. CIC should giveimmigrants more time to answer and easier questions.. we are not up for history phd here.. Seems like almost everybody at this forumis suycking up to CIC.. yes exam is ok to do however it has to be fair to eveybody taking in account their education level/ age anddisabilities.. yes mental/learning are the disabilities too.. I guess no citizenship for such people.. I love Canada.. and that's fair right?

The Canadian citizenship test appears fair in that it encourages immigrants to have a working knowledge of Canada, their country of choice in which to settle. it should be about the useful things, like, how you get a job, how you can find daycare for your kid, how you build credit history, how you apply for a phone line, what you can do if you need a credit card and nobody wants to give you one because you're new, how to understand mortgages, how to pay taxes, how to drive (why not include it, you can't live in Canada and not drive, right?) - at least it's more important than knowing about who got the Victoria Cross and why.

Great idea, I think the test in the US should be as hard as this one in Canada, because in the States NOBODY fails, it's totally USELESS. A mere formality! WHile I think it is very important for the country to make sure the immigrants know the culture, history, geography etc.

Most things asked in the test are not even usually know by ordinary Canadian citizens born and grown in Canada! I have talked to many who, if they had to take the test, would fail.It should include more about being a Canadian today, without leaving out some history, but with more enphasis on our today's society and place in the world.
